Globally there is a growing tendency to put pressure on private companies to work with CSR and report on CSR. In Denmark as well as in many other countries organisations and governments have launched initiatives which motivate private companies to report on their CSR activities.
In Denmark an amendment of the Danish Financial Statements Act has made it mandatory for the 1100 largest companies to take a position on CSR in their annual reports. If a company has CSR activities, the company must account for its work on CSR in its annual reports.
According to an analysis from the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs published in the fall of 2010, an impressing 97 percent of Denmark’s 1100 largest companies have published a report on their work with CSR.
Below you can download Line-of-Sight’s brochure, which describes in detail our flexible and tailor-made consulting services on how a company best reports on CSR and works with CSR (available in Danish only).
It’s a value based process for a company to work with CSR. For that reason working with CSR is an important opportunity for creating an internal dialogue about what are the values of the company.
From a global perspective, an English-Dutch initiative, IIRC, on how to create a globally accepted framework for accounting for sustainability, has managed to get broad support from professional organisations, interest groups and prominent individuals from many countries in Europe, in the U.S. and in Asia. This initiative is supported by GRI, which is a UN backed organisation also working on developing accounting standards for CSR. The International Federation of Accountants, IFAC, is also amongst those that support the initiative.
